
This is my “father-assisted” first reveal of a Lenovo IdeaPad notebook.
Specifications: T6600 Core2Duo, 3GB DDR3 1066MHz (I think), 320GB, GeForce 210M, 15.6″ LED backlit, 3xUSB 2.0, 1xVGA, 1xHDMI, 1xRJ45, DVD+/-RW drive, card slot, bluetooth, 0.3MP camera, Express port Battery lasts 3.5h in “Power saving” mode. Power Management application is nice and usefull, Veriface makes sense just in good lighting conditions. Standard partitioning schema was shitty: C (system): 9.8 GB!, D (data): 287GB, Recovery: 1.1GB, so I broken that “wonderful” one key recovery feature, and made regular partitions (eg. 70 GB for system). Lenovo’s driveres from their website were at use. Wireless connection was strange. I installed Win7 x64 and I have a DI-524 Wireless router, that worked only with when I selected the WPA-PSK security mode. Why is that at this G550L, I don’t know.. Bluetooth is working properly, camera is a bit noisy. The cooler’s fan makes frequent start/stops, but is not too loud. Keyboard is ok, but the touchpad is a bit too sensitve and the cursor jumps from one edge to another. The screen has very nice colors and plenty of brightness. I still getting used with the 16:9 ratio of it, though. Win7 Ultimate x64 installs in about 30 minutes. G210M video adapter gives a boost on 3D games, but on Windows Experience Index gets only 4.2 at “Desktop Performance” (the lowest score).
