So these screens are supposed to be pretty tough… mine lasted a week. A 4 foot drop did it in nicely.

A VentureBeat video of the new tablet from Dell
Video Rating: 5 / 5
@Gondee It landed on tile, so it had a pretty harsh landing. It really was dropped though, not thrown.
@KNARFN70 You don’t. I could have dropped it out of a plane for all you know. But what would I gain from lying about that? Don’t take my word if you don’t want to- but many comments with like problems back up what I said. And if you took the time to see other comments, I confirmed that the outside *gorrila glass* is what is broken, AND the LCD. Both. The glass is chipped and flaking off on the edge even.
So, how do we know that u didnt really hammer it or gun it?
Show us the video how u dropped it and broke the glass, then I’ll take your words,
Otherwise, this video is rubbish!
Beside, it’s the inner LCD that u broke, not the
glass
Humm, it looks like more like a throw from 4 feet.
gorilla glass #FAIL
Probeblly a Mon. or Friday unit at just b4 lunchtime
at least the screen still works, you gotta give dell some credit for making half the screen work
I have dropped my Dell Streak as well and the glass is totally broken. Dell does not repair or replace, and there is no shop in the market that replace the screen, so please do not buy this device as if you dropped you will end up with a debit of £416 and no phone. I had it for 3 days only and it is totally useless. I will enter with a claim in a Court in London, if anybody with the same issue wants to join me you are more than welcome!

@szieve dude, it’s a cell phone video, you cant see ANYTHING “clearly” with this quality. The lcd AND glass are broken. There are little chunks of glass missing on the edge even. The glass IS broken.
As you can see clearly, the glass is not broken at all.. What is broken are the lcd cells. The gorilla glass covers the front of the phone.
You didn’t break the glass, you broke the lcd behind it.
@shadowolf192 I definately agree about the scratches. But “Who frequently drops a phone?” – Pretty much everybody that I know that owns a phone!
I think, Gorilla Glass is, “Anti-Scratch”.
You’ll notice, that there aren’t any scratches on the Glass.
It works, like it’s supposed to.
Come on.
Who frequently drops a Phone?
That would be like, going Scuba-Diving, with a Rain-Proof Phone and saying, “It’s supposed to be Water-Proof!”.
Seriously…
Dime BAR!
hi do you now knowy where from I can get glass screan for dell strak?thanks
This is a load of crap i had my phone 1 week the new dell streak and its shattered its no stronger than normal glass
I managed to break my glass within a month of having phone, when i tripped over and it was in my pocket!!
@cowboydom whatever dude. We are never going to agree.
@diysgog I have respect for all comments so, just want to say that first. However I completely disagree with you – your comment “indestructible read “fragile” ” You should expect an electronic device designed TO BE HELD IN THE HANDS, has a DISPLAY SCREEN and soldered components inside it to break if you drop if from 4 feet ! As for good PR to replace it – nonsense thats like me saying oh i crashed my car in to a fence, Ford should fix it for free because it makes them look good. What next ?
@rockysiccion09 It really is dude, but just not when dropped. Seriously look at some test videos of dell streak being brutally murdered with screwdrivers. Its Tough.
@perpetual121 My thoughts exactly. [replace iPone with android] (andy fanboy)
@xdude420x Ha, then drop yours and tell me how it ends. ;P Joking, but really, the floor is hard, and while it is a tough screen, you can see it hit on the edge. And no, it probably wouldn’t have shattered had it dropped on the camera side – theres no huge piece of glass on that side!
@cowboydom Agreed! (although I really wish they would!
)
@moofassa22 haha, no way bro, i was going to sell it! did I stab the heck out of the remaining half of the screen after I dropped it? (and this video is BEFORE the stabbing) YES! And let me tell you it is TOUGH when STABBED, like nobody’s business.
@cowboydom would be good PR. It IS supposed to be near indestructible after all. Obviously for ‘nearly indestructible’ read ‘fragile’
@funkychap apparently some austrailian mobile providers are taking orders already to import unlocked versions from the UK and O2. Just google it.
i love this phone/tablet
When is this coming to Australia?
i know the feeling hun mine lasted 2 weeks from a 3 foot drop and shattered the whole screen….. mine is totaly wrote off…. tho mine did not break the lcd…. just the touch bezel…
