Dell Streak Fault

Got my Streak on Friday also – and it took 3 hours to figure out that the battery cover needs to be PUSHED securely into place. My phone kept going off – and then I noticed the cover was really not secured properly. It took (what I thought) was way TOO MUCH force to properly secure and latch the cover. this is a terrible design – but obviously when secured properly – works.

Or put some type on the battery.

This is an awesome phone, have you tried the diags? remove the battery, replace, hold down camera button and press the “on” button? Or the full diag, remove and replace the battery, hold down volume up AND volume down and turn on??

My Streak is due for delivery tomorrow, and while searching for info on Android 2.2 for it, I see two videos re faulty screen.

To Me, that looks like the Boot.ini, or whatever the equivilent of it is, is knackered.
(Corrupted, if You know the Lingo.).
If You re-flash a Recovery ROM. You’ll be fine.
Although, They don’t like it, if You do that.
Alternatively, contact Watchdog…
You get 14 Days to return a Product, without any Reason, legally.

trying to get a reply from dell is hell you click on contact on the website n its a load of bollex 200 steps before you can send an email or get a phone number this is despite having next day repair guarantee. Can you tell me if this product is worth 300 quid as well i can’t make my mind up buy the dell streak or the dell studio xps core i7 . owwww and respect for standing up to the company’s shit!

I have some promising news. Dell have finally replied to an email with clear instructions so that I can arrange a refund or replacement. No phone calls required – exactly how an IT company should operate. I have gone for a replacement as the device is actually a great one. Lets hope I am not being stupidly optimistic. I will post an update when all is settled.

@cowboydom Yes I am. I don’t know how well this will work but I will keep you all posted. I informed Dell of the fault within 2 days of delivery, so it should of been a very simple case of replacing the device, everyone being happy, and me informing all of how wonderful Dell customer services are.

Dont you guys have consumer protection agency or anything like that in UK? call Dell and threaten them if they dont replace your device you would file a complaint with UK’s consumer protection agency. You sould be covered as long as you have guarantee on it. Good luck.
